LEARN MORE ABOUT

The APEX Museum

The APEX Museum was born from a simple but powerful belief: our stories deserve to be told by us. Located in the historic Sweet Auburn District — once known as “the richest Negro street in the world” — the museum honors the legacy of the people who built, shaped, and transformed this community.

Here, history is personal. It lives in the artifacts we preserve, the elders we honor, the students we teach, and the stories we share. Every exhibit, program, and partnership reflects our commitment to celebrating the brilliance, resilience, and global impact of African and African American people.

At APEX, we don’t just preserve history — we protect it, uplift it, and pass it forward.

Mission

To protect, preserve, and promote the history, culture, and contributions of African and African American people through authentic storytelling, educational programming, and community engagement.

Vision

To become a leading cultural institution that sets the standard for innovative storytelling, digital access, and community-driven historical preservation.

Values

  • Heritage: We honor the wisdom and resilience of our ancestors.
  • Representation: We uplift voices historically excluded from the narrative.

  • Connection: We build bridges between generations, cultures, and communities.

  • Empowerment: We inspire pride, purpose, and possibility.
